Tucson man in wheelchair dies after being hit by SUV
TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A man sitting in a wheelchair died after being struck by an SUV while in a roadway Thursday night. A 56-year-old man sitting in a wheelchair died after being hit by an SUV in Tucson, Arizona. The victim, identified as Charles Stephen Howard, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, who was uninjured, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Howard was not in or near any marked or implied crosswalk at the time of the crash. The SUV driver was not impaired by alcohol or drugs and cooperates with investigators, which may determine if Howard had any substances in his system. No criminal charges or civil citations have been issued.
