C.I. Chu's Mongolian BBQ Closes in Midtown Tucson
25 years of build-your-own Mongolian BBQ on Broadway just ended with a handwritten sign. C.I. Chu's Mongolian BBQ in Midtown Tucson has closed for good, marking the end of more than 25 years at the same midtown address. The owner, Calvin Chu, offered a phone number for anyone interested in taking over the business. The restaurant, which opened in 2000 under Chu, was one of the last dedicated Mongolian barbecue restaurants still operating in Tucson. At its peak, the brand also ran a second restaurant at 7039 E. Tanque Verde Road. No cause for the closure has been confirmed, and no specific closing date has been released. Other notable closures include O Tasty Mongolian Barbeque in Roseville, California, and Kahunas Mongolian Grill in Redding, California.
