Hyundai Says Keep Driving Your Tucson, But Park It Far From Anything
A tiny wiring gremlin on the Tucson has forced Hyundai to issue a 52,000-unit recall Hyundai is recalling 51,587 of its compact utilities, specifically models with the optional towing package, due to a problem with the wiring harness on models fitted with these packages. The harness attaches to the car at a point where water ingress is likely to occur, potentially leading to a short circuit that could cause inoperative trailer lights or vehicle stop lights, or potentially causing a crash if the driver behind doesn't notice the vehicle braking. Hyundai has advised owners to continue driving their SUVs while the recall work is completed, which will take place until mid-2026. The company also sold 1,338 harnesses over the counter at US dealers for DIY install, which could pose a challenge for the manufacturer as it could be difficult to identify which vehicles had the mod installed outside of the dealer network.
