Dozens forced to relocate after mold found in University of Arizona dorm

Dozens of students were told to relocate after mold was found on the 7th floor of Coronado dorm. A mold outbreak at the University of Arizona has forced dozens of students to move out of a dorm within 24 hours. Freshmen Lily Kingsbury and Ryleigh Beitler discovered the infestation shortly after moving into the dorm. The students ran a mold culture test and called maintenance after finding alarming results. Two hours later, they received an email telling them to move immediately due to repairs needed. The university confirmed localized areas of microbial growth near a window and identified localized areas. Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) responded to the room and identified potential moisture sources. EHS has engaged an outside firm specializing in mold remediation to assess the affected rooms.
