Tucson streets open to thousands of cyclists, pedestrians for fall Cyclovia
Thousands of Tucsonans swapped cars for bikes, skates and sneakers Sunday for Cyclovia Tucson, filling some of the city's busiest streets for six car-free hours. Tucson's streets were temporarily closed to pedestrians and cyclists for the second consecutive year of Cyclovia Tucson, a twice-year event by the Living Streets Alliance that allows residents to explore their community in a different way. The event, which typically draws between 40,000 and 50,000 participants, allows people of different ages and abilities to participate in outdoor activities. Participants also had an opportunity to explore neighborhoods and businesses they might not otherwise visit. The Living Streets Association hopes the event will encourage residents to consider how Tucson's roads can serve all users. The next Cyclovita is expected to take place in spring 2027.
