Goodyear police finds former officer misused Flock cameras
A Goodyear officer resigned during a license plate camera misuse investigation that police say would have ended in his firing. Goodyear Police Department in Arizona has completed an investigation into the alleged misuse of the Flock automated license plate reader (ALPR) system. The officer, identified during a routine audit in July, was placed on leave and restricted from accessing Goodyear PD computer systems. The department reached out to Glendale police to investigate whether the misuse could lead to criminal charges. Glendale investigators found insufficient evidence to support charges. Meanwhile, Goodyear police continued their administrative investigation into allegations of misuse of database and other policy violations. The police Chief Brian Issitt stated that the officer would have been fired if he had not left the department.
