A new diner is coming to Tucson's Sunshine Mile

Howdy Diner is taking over the former Welcome Diner spot at 902 E. Broadway, which closed in 2020. Sally Kane, owner of Coronet Restaurant in Tucson's Sunshine Mile, has leased the former Welcome Diner, which opened more than 60 years ago and was closed in 2020. The 3,929-square-foot diner is set to be expanded with plans to add a patio and bar to its offerings. The building, which has been closed for six years, remains a landmark preserved as part of the Broadway historic landscape. The full menu will be available at both venues, with breakfast, lunch and dinner options seven days a week. Interior upgrades are underway, with the addition of the back room and added patio expected to increase seating capacity to 130 customers.
