PRESCOTT (AZFamily) — A man is dead following a shooting involving Prescott police over the weekend.
Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, officers went to a home in the 1900 block of Sycamore Drive to look for a suspect from a previous investigation.
The suspect was outside the home, and he reportedly began fighting with officers. The shooting happened at some point during the altercation.
After being treated on scene, the man was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to a Phoenix-area hospital. He died a short time later.
Prescott police have not released additional details about the incident, including the suspect’s name.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety will investigate, which is standard protocol that an outside agency leads an officer-involved shooting investigation.
This is the 47th officer-involved shooting in Arizona in 2024.
