Windy conditions could start Thursday, but significant gusts and blowing dust will be a bigger problem Friday, especially east and southeast of metro Tucson. Strong and gusty winds are expected across Tucson and most of southeast Arizona, with gusts of up to 25 miles per hour predicted. The National Weather Service in Tucson has warned that wind gusts could cause problems for drivers, particularly in the east and southeast of Tucson. The area around Willcox Playa in Cochise County could be particularly affected. A high wind watch is in effect for Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with winds expected to reach up to 50 mph.

Strong and gusty winds Friday are expected to blow across Tucson and most of southeast Arizona.

Windy conditions are expected to begin Thursday, but they won't be as strong, with gusts of up to 25 miles per hour anticipated.

Blowing dust could be a problem Friday for drivers, especially to the east and southeast of Tucson, the National Weather service in Tucson says. The area around Willcox Playa in Cochise County could be especially affected, it noted.

In general, wind speeds in the region Friday could be up to 50 miles per hour, and gusts could reach up to 65 miles per hour, the weather service said Thursday.

A high wind watch will be in effect Friday from 8 a.m. through 9 p.m.
