TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — CVS Health has announced its investment in an affordable housing development for older adults and individuals with disabilities in Tucson.
Representatives from CVS Health will join Governor Katie Hobbs, and project developer La Frontera to unveil the company’s equity contribution towards the development of West Point II Apartments, which will provide 85 affordable housing units tailored for individuals aged 55 and above, including accommodations for persons with disabilities.
The development promises residents access to a wide variety of onsite wellness programs and comprehensive wrap-around services tailored to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, encompassing mental health counseling and substance use disorder services.
This initiative, made possible through CVS Health's collaboration with La Frontera and Red Stone Equity Partners, signifies a $22.6 million infusion into the West Point II Apartments project, addressing the need for low-cost housing within the community while bolstering Arizona’s efforts to combat homelessness.
Additionally, CVS Health is extending support to the La Frontera Center through a $100,000 grant, fortifying the Center’s holistic array of service delivery initiatives and programs.
“Equitable access to affordable housing serves as one of the greatest barriers to improving health outcomes,” said Joel Helle, Specialty Physician Services, CVS Health. “By being part of the creation of West Point II Apartments, we’re providing older individuals and those with disabilities a safe, beautiful, and affordable home and the supportive services they need to comfortably age in place.”
The event is scheduled from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. today at the West Point I Apartments.
Speakers will include Governor Katie Hobbs, Joel Helle of CVS Health, Dan Ranieri, President and CEO of La Frontera, and Rose Cain, a resident of West Point I Apartments.
